She Prays

small cracks in her skin parts readily from the branch she bends at the neck

with large, open eyes she requires full sun all day to preserve her fruit

she prays for ripeness spreads wider than she is tall yields to soft pressure

Study her stem and you’ll see the shape of hands as if they’re praying. This was one of those happy painting accidents. Quickly, I added a soft light above her — this fig of beauty.
